About Us
Owned and operated by lifelong friends Danton and Kyle Teas, the local eatery specializes in Gulf Coast seafood dishes. Until earlier this year, Danton was in Austin running a successful catering business. Danton says “I always wanted to open a seafood restaurant that celebrates the food I grew up with, seafood straight from the Gulf Coast has the sweetest, freshest flavors of the world, and Kyle finally convinced me the time was right.” They then persuaded Teas’ wife Clare to let them set up a test kitchen in the Teas’ West U home and they began perfecting recipes while looking for a location.
Once they located the perfect spot, the two collaborated with family and friends on the interior and the result is an understated look and feel that does not overwhelm. The walls are adorned with treasured black and white photos of friends and family, some dating back to the 1920’s of Danton’s and Kyle’s grandparents and other family members. Beautiful antique maps of coastal areas and waterways, sketches of the Gulf Coast by well-known artist Richard Fowles and trophies and memorabilia are also part of the décor.
Everything about the two partners is genuine and real; and so, as you might expect, is the restaurant. A friend says, “This is a cool place that doesn’t have to tell it is cool…..it just is.”
